BBVA Banco Francés S.A., together with its subsidiaries, provides various financial services to corporations, medium and small companies, and individual customers in Spain, Mexico, South America, the United States, and Eurasia. The company offers checking and savings accounts, time deposits, and trading and investment accounts. It also provides loans to the public sector, loans to local financial institutions, and short-term loans to companies, as well as overdraft lines of credit, discounted instruments, real estate mortgage loans, collateral loans, consumer loans, credit card loans, and short-term placements in foreign banks. In addition, the company offers fire, household, civil liability, theft, personal accidents, group life, and other insurance coverage products; payroll management services; investment fund and pension management services; stock exchange brokerage; and insurance advisory services to customers in the areas of coverage of risks related to life, personal accidents, as well as home and automatic teller machines (ATMs) robbery insurance. Further, it provides portfolio and asset management; foreign trade services, including letters of credit, collections, bank drafts, fund transfers, and foreign currency transactions; and electronic banking and trust services, as well as issues and trades in commercial papers, corporate bonds, trust bonds, other credit instruments, and futures and options. As of December 31, 2015, it operated through a network of 285 attention-to-clients units; 14 in-company branches; 1 points of sale; and other distribution channels, such as 694 ATMs, 797 self-service terminals, a telephone banking, and an Internet banking service. The company was formerly known as Banco Francés S.A. and changed its name to BBVA Banco Francés S.A. in October 2000. The company was founded in 1886 and is headquartered in Buenos Aires, the Republic of Argentina.
